"The first step for someone who may have ingested too much caffeine is to stop giving any more."

Who woulda thunk it?

I am a coffee-holic also, I had to buy a bigger pot. But i do agree caffeine is everywhere now. When i was cramming for an exam you had to go to the all night gas stations and pay 3.00 for a small package of it, or buy the yellow bottle of stay awake from the drug store.

But now everywhere you turn, gum, suckers, other candies its so easy to get and in your face I can see how it can easily become a problem

Oh yeah and hopefully the guvment will step in and control it, because i dont think it should be the parents responsibility to teach their kids wrong from right and tell them to not use it.

 I think if I really ate 103 tubs of Ben and Jerry's coffee ice cream, it wouldn't be the caffeine that kills me.

Yeah, but you'd die happy.

I'm told caffeine is the most widely used and most widely abused drug in the world. I say this with a Coke in my hand that I had to have this morning.

I hope this was tongue-in-cheek.

I would be just teetering on the edge of death if I had 492 cans of Diet Coke or 403 cans of Mountain Dew, caffeine-wise, but methinks that the ruptured bladder of non-functioning kidneys might hasten my demise.

Solution... Gain more weight so you can enjoy those few extra cups/bars/bottles of what ever it is you are abusing :)

Used to work the night shift at my old job. I vividly remember one guy (who was hyperactive to begin with) came in one night with 6 cans of Red Bull. He promptly drank them all within a 30 minute time span and lost his ability to sit down and shut up. We were all plotting his demise, figuring out our alibi's and where to hide the body. We couldn't figure out a good place to hide the body so we abandoned the idea. I'm still convinced it would've been justified though.

I overdosed on caffeine once : /

It was easter and I had about a gallon of sweet tea (super sweet) and I'd say around 2 liters of coke within 8 hours. Not to mention around 10 lbs of chocolate I ate, well, it wasn't THAT much, but it was a lot :]

My heart was beating SUPER fast, then slowing down to about 30-40 BPM. It kept doing that, and I thought I was about to freaking die. I woke my dad up at 3 AM and he took me to the hospital. They did an EKG and all that good stuff. Didn't even ask what I had to eat : / Apparently I get "Heart palpitations" from eating too much caffeine.
I have BARELY ever touched the stuff since then. The occasional soda now and then, but thats it.

I never knew caffeine was BAD for you till after that incedent.

You could drink 2730.00 glasses of Chocolate Milk before croaking.

LOL who would of thought that chocolate milk could actually kill you...

I need 325 bottles of Vitamin water to kill me and I drink one almost every day during the week. I guess I am living on the edge! :D

I OD'd on Vivarin back in my college days. Just couldn't seem to get awake one morning, took 2, then 2 more, and was still feeling half asleep. Finally I grabbed a cup of coffee (8-10oz, vending machine) and washed down 2 more with that on my way to a biology class. I struggled to stay awake through the class (another 75 minutes) then after it was over and I went back to the student lounge it all hit me at once. I couldn't stop my hands from shaking for about 20 minutes, and was rather uncomfortable sitting still, but otherwise no nasty effects.
One of my biology teachers had done her master's thesis on caffeine, using cats for test subjects. She said that a ridiculous amount would cause their hearts to beat to death, but otherwise it isn't addictive or harmful either short or long-term.

I'm not a coffee drinker at all. I had never had coffee in my life until a few years ago when someone gave me a gift certificate to Starbucks. I went and without knowing what I was doing picked up the Double Triple Vanilla Mocha Latte Expressicino or something along those lines. I drank half of it before I had a major headache, was dizzy and it seemed all my senses were on the edge. I ended up giving the rest of it to someone at work whom it had no effect on whatsoever. I swore I would never touch caffeine in that strength ever, ever again. I learned my lesson.

[quote She said that a ridiculous amount would cause their hearts to beat to death, but otherwise it isn't addictive or harmful either short or long-term.[/quote]

heart beating to death isn't long term or nothing
?

that is what was happening to me and i only had decaf

but something is not right with my heart beat anyway, but no one can seem to figure it out anyway,..

it is dangerous for people that don't know they have a problem with it,. it can be deadly to those who drink Pepsi and mountain dew and things that they think is safe.

I own a coffee shop all these things they say about coffee are maid up. :evil_lol:
On another note there are many studies that show many benefits to coffee, but like anything else you have to have limits.
