Well, being a cheap ***, I try to make a lot of stuff at home to save money. One of the biggest things that I love to make is Hershey's Syrup. Not only is it extremely easy to make (takes maybe 10 minutes, with one minute being actual "labor" and the other 9 minutes waiting time), but it saves money, and you can make it a thinner syrup so that it blends easily with cold milk.
Anyways, does anyone else have any cheapy recipes that they love making?
Hershey's Syrup
1 part Hershey's Cocoa (I live in PA, gotta support the PA brand)
2 parts warm water
2 parts sugar
1 "dash" vanilla
1 "dash" salt
Mix it all in a small sauce pot, get it to just below boiling (simmer it, whatever), then turn the heat down and let it thicken to your desired consistency. It will thicken up a bit when put in the fridge, so keep this in mind.
I usually use 1/2 cup as a "part" for the recipe.
You can also use banana flavoring to mix it up, chocolate banana milk is beyond heavenly.
So... share your frugal recipes!

I think this one is for stuff most people buy premade.
I used to make my own jalapeno poppers. Then I decided to just blend together canned jalapenos and cream cheese, drop it in blobs in batter (flour, milk, salt, and garlic powder at the consistancy of pancake batter), and deep fry 'em. Much better that way :)

Well, I thought I had seen a recipe thread before, but couldn't find it. Plus, yes, it'd be neat if this one could stay more for stuff that the average person just buys premade. :) I appreciate the link though, I'll have to check it out. :D
I changed the title, for frugal recipes, instead of just recipes. :)
Paperdragon, OMG, I would have never thought about making those at home. I never buy them because they're soooo expensive, but oh, so good. You can't even buy the cream cheese ones in bulk around here, so that makes them even more expensive. What is the ratio of jalapeno to cream cheese that you use? Nom, nom, I can only imagine the heartburn that will be my friend after I get the stuff to make some of them!

Ok, I just dug out my recipe notebook. It's a little different than I remembered, I have a bad habit of writing recipes down then not bothering to use them next time I make it.
Cream cheese jalapeno puffs
1 pkg (8oz) cream cheese
2 tbsp. chopped jalapenos
4 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. pancake mix or biscuit mix
1/2 tsp. salt
dash black pepper
dash garlic powder
5-6 tbsp. water
Beat cream cheese and jalapenos until smooth. In a separate bowl mix all other ingredients adding just enough water to give it the consistency of thick pancake batter. Spoon the cream cheese mix in roughly 1/2" balls into the batter, then drop into hot oil to deep fry.
Sometimes they do leak cream cheese into the oil, but it doesn't seem to affect how the rest cook.
Here's another one:
Honey Mustard Sauce (trying to match Wendy's, didn't quite get there though)
1 tsp sour cream
2 tsp Miracle Whip or mayonnaise
3 tsp honey mustard
dash chili powder
simply combine all ingredients. :)
These are both one or two servings if I recall right.
