i plan on doing a 3-day blackout on my green water. my question is will my red root floaters and frogbit be okay during this? also how can i be sure not to get green water again

first off you should find the cause of it. Be it poor tank conditions, high nutrient levels, low co2 or high light.
3 day blackout might not do much, i mean it will get your water lightly clearer but once the green water spores are in the tank, they will just multiply again when you give the tank light. Normally they suggest 5day blackout. But a blackout isnt always healthy for the plants. From personal experience, i had alot of plant die off after only 3day blackout. After that i gave up on it and tried other things.
I upped the filtration and tried Accu-clear along with water changes. After that the tank got clear again and i havent seen green water since then.

i'll try that. btw the frogbits are great also thhere was a couple RRF mixed in but now they multiplyed like crazy

whats your tank size? 20gl
Filtration? yes
photoperiod? 11 hours
co2? no
how often are water changes? every 2 weeks

also there is a blue P.Alleni pair

whats the filtration?
Whats the lighting (# of watts)?
Do you dose any ferts/root tabs?
Did you disturb the substrate recently?

Most likely the cause of your green water is lack of tank maintenance and long photoperiod.

this is prolly the case i swiched all the plants to my 55g w/ my jag. i cant use algea destroyer in my craytank

You have red root floaters and frogbit and still have green water? It must be something other then high nutrients, did you try using willow branches?
I am trying to fix my problem with greenish water at this time on my 55GL, I was told to get some floaters or willow branches.
