Can anyone tell me the best setup/configuration for a small frag tank? I want to get some frags but, most of them are very tiny (1" x 1" or one eye, etc) and before I place them in my display tank, I would like to get them a little bigger.

I have a 2' x 2' x 1' deep tank that I want to use. Now what do I need to put in it besides a heater, power head(s) for circulation, and a 1" sand bottom? I've also got some egg create to lift the off the bottom of the tank. Also tell me about water parameters and feeding.

Thanks,

I wouldn't say sand is needed -- many frag tanks are run bare bottom.

Is it possible for you to plumb the frag tank into the system on your main tank (if you have a sump set-up)? If so, it can help with stability and you would be utilizing all the filtration that's established in your main system.

Water parameters in the frag tank shouldn't be any different than the normally recommended levels for a reef tank.

Feeding will depend on what kind of frags you're referring to... But, Cyclopeeze and frozen mysis shrimp are commonly fed to corals.

Well, I had to do a very fast set up of the frag tank. You know, where you throw it all together and get as close to correct water specifications as possible. The egg create wants to float so I put a piece of live rock that I've had in a container for about a month, hoping to keep whatever life was on it alive. I got a surprise. I found the following growing: I hope the tube worm comes out again. I have no idea what that white stuff is in the first photo.
