I found a 125G tank going free, only problem is it leaks, the post says it is leaking from the seals. For someone who has never done it before, how easy is it to reseal a tank?
Thanks.

It's not to hard. You need a pack of single edged razor blades, some patience & rubbing alcohol to get every last bit of old silicone out. Then masking tape everywhere along the seams. The actual silicone caulking & smoothing is pretty easy. Cure a couple days or so & test. It's all in the prep.

I just re-sealed my 20 gal -- it was much easier than I had expected (of course a 20 gal long is much smaller than what you're doing). I got 100% silicone for the hardware store, a good razor blade scraper and some painter's masking tape. The main thing is that when it cures, which it starts to do immediately, it emits acetic acid gas, so it's best to do it where you have some ventilation (I ended up with a wicked headache). Silicone won't seal to silicone so you do need to get all of the old silicone off and then clean the glass really well with rubbing alcohol so that the silicone has fresh clean glass to adhere to. Good luck!

Both of the above posts are right one! I resealed my first 150 gallon. That was a bit of a chore. Make sure you get all the old stuf out, down to the glass. Remove the tape as quickly as you can after you have laid the silicone. if it cures, even lightly, you'll start to pull silicone up with it. That stinks!
