Is the Leporinus Fasciatus a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore. Most resources that I have read claimed the leporinusi as herbivore, but I have a different experience. My Leoporinus will only eat meat, seafood, or worms. He does eat regular flake too, but he will not touch any greens. I have tried several different veggies and fruits, but he will not take them. Whenever a fish is eaten in my tank, the leporinus is eating more of the dead fish than the cichlids. Does anyone here have knowledge of the Leporinus Fasciatus aka Black-Banded Leporinus?

Extremely good jumper. I believe it's an omnivore with a carnivore appetite. It loves bloodworms.

I see your confusion, Baensch has it as herbivore solely

He is about three inches long in a 10gallon. I will have to upgrade in a few months though. I have seen one a foot long at a Petland. I seem to have the best colored leporinus I have ever seen. And her fins are so delicate looking. Maybe it is all the meat that gives her such vivid color. All the leporini I have seen at stores were really dull or the stripes blended together.

It official, you are retarded.
You can't keep a fish that reaches almost 2 feet in a 10g. The worst part is, you just admitted to researching the leporinus.

What are you talking about "two feet" cdawson? That is nowhere posted or said. I said he is 3 inces in a 10gallon. I know you Canucks only understand metric, so maybe that throws you off. Quit making things up, inbred.
Plus, There is nothing retarded about reading up on fish though mulptiple books and sites. You are stupid if you take the first thing said by a member as a fish fact. I consult several sources when dealing with fish. Books before websites too.
Yes, I find relible resources about fish in books, and then go to forums for ****s & giggles.

Canucks aren't inbred and in cdawson's defence, Vancouver has 500,000 more people than Columbus, Ohio. I think we're a lot less likely to be inbred considering that most people aren't born in Canada and less than 10% of people's grand parents are from Canada. So hold your tongue on information that you obviously are not knowledgeable about.

Yashinfin, Columbus population in the 2000 census was 711,000 residents. Vancouver had 560,000. Your math is way off. However, Vancouver's metropolitan area surpasses Columbus at 1,993,000 versus 1,600,000. Are you trying to say that the Vancouver area has more inbreds than Columbus? Alot of them over in Victoria. Inbreds and potheads. Yes they do. That is why they are so slow.

For your information, I was talking about the metro area, not just the actual city. Victoria is actually full of old people, that's the reason why I think it is slow. Now, honestly, you know the repuatation of americans from places like Ohio, Kansas, Idaho... inbred hicks, sorry your parents are cousins, you don't have to take it out on Canada.

He may be three inches right now but he reaches 2' down the line. hey smart guy, most books have incorrect info on fish. The best source of info around for aquariums is right here and you've pretty much screwed your chance of being around here much longer. BTW next time the canucks are in town go down to their dressing room and tell them what you think about canada.

cdawson,
Maybe you should have read his complete post. He did say he was going to have to upgrade the tank in a few months. I agree a 2' fish in a 10 gallon would be a problem but a few inch fish in a 10 gallon for a couple of months is not, unless the fish grows 3-4 inches a month
Never Mind Cdawson just saw some of the other threads understand the hostility now :-)
