Havent posted any photos in a while so today took the camera and decided to take some decent shots of the floaters. Floaters include Frogbit/duckweed and my favorite red root :)
Amazing how fast the red root spreads after it gets used to the tank.

Enjoy

I cant wait to send yours out lol My tank is hella dark right now with all the plants.
Keeping them healthy? hmm when i first got mine (4-5 tiny pieces) they all lost the roots and somewhat melted. Eventually i noticed new leaves spouting but they were all green and there were no red roots. After a few months the plants started to grow small roots and would get pinkish. The more the plant matures, the more pink it gets. Very awesome plant :)
Give it good light, tank with good nutrient supply and it will spread fast (make sure there isnt 2 much surface movement)

You're so good to me, Yuriy. I really do want them, too. If nothing else, it's an excuse to set up another tank. Flimsy excuse, maybe.. but good enough for me. ;)

Set it and forget it, just like those 3 water lettuce plants that turned into 20 in 2 weeks. How are your plants with the light being blocked off by the floaters?

Thanks TINAAA!!!! lol (need to catch up on things :) )
Why are you jealous? how are the ones i sent to you doing?

can always create a lil floating divider so the plants stay in one corner :silly:

ha ill never go for another floater again. Once they get used to the tank they spread like a weed.
The plants below were getting minimal light but im surprised that they were all actually growing well.

Yes we do need to catch up!!!!;)

I really believe after the addition of Excel to my tank that it killed my poor little floaters. :mad2::mad2::mad2: It was the only thing different that I added so it had to be the cause. I have just a couple left but they aren't looking good. So you need to put me on the list for some more come spring. I was so mad at myself!!!!!!!!:swear:

need to jot down all the names who want the floater lol... looks like i will have to do some more weed growing for the spring.

That's okay, Yuriy. You don't actually want that light reaching into the tank, anyway. :)
