So I was doing some gravel vac'ing yesterday, and this one piece would not get sucked up by the python. After giving up on it, I went on to clean the rest of the tank. After the cleaning was done, I went back to grab this piece and throw it out. It was then that I realized it was a SNAIL! It's about as big as the tip of a cotton swab. I assume it came into the tank with the large driftwood piece I bought.

Should I let him stay and see if he can avoid the Oscars? Or could this snail be harmful to the tank, and thus should be removed? I have no idea what kind of snail it is. I will try to get a picture of it, but it's hard to get a clear one because it so small.

There is no snail that would harm a fish. Please get pics of the snail.

unless the snail was from the wild in which case it may be carrying parasites. The snail itself poses no danger to your fish.

Well I assume it's from the wild, if it was introduced to the tank through the addition of the driftwood.

Still working on the picture..

lol that's funny :) Is it a pond snail that came on your plant(s)?

A lot of nerites are wild caught so they're no different to the snail that may have come from the wild. Where are you located, Liam?

I'm located in Northern Virginia. Just west of DC.

Here are the best pictures I could manage to take of that little thing. I can't for the life of me work out how to focus on something so small, so close.

I think it's dead.
