Oh man, that's a tough choice. I'd have to say snails, too. But I love the shrimp so much.

i'd say shrimp to be honest (also shoud really be a pole)
I'd keep 2 tanks. If I had to choose between the tanks, though: snails. Brigs, specifically.

This is a cruel and unusual choice to make. I can feel thousands of beady eyes staring at me from my basement, waiting to see what I would choose.

Pssh! You don't have to choose, Rach. Mg didn't specifically say you should answer the question.:evil_lol:

tough choice! Probably would choose snails. I love my shrimp tank, but now that I done that, I would like to try out some big, beautiful snails......(but I would secretly keep my shrimp!) :lipssealedsmilie:

Snails for me, they are so entertaining and never fail to greet me at the top of the tank at feeding time. I don't have expirience with shrimp just yet. However hopefully today the shrimp I ordered from MsJinkzd will arrive.
I'm voting for shrimp.
Either way, invert tanks are fun.

Shrimp. Now I've never kept freshwater snails but I just love my shrimp! Plus there are just so many out there that I want to have but are hard to come by (and expensive) in the hobby. At the moment I'm totally lusting after some Sulawesi shrimp (see http://www.planetinverts.com/shrimp_from_sulawesi.html) but for the moment I have to be happy with my RCS and CRS friends.
I would keep Mg in a tank. :evil_lol:

I gotta say shrimp, because even though the snails are beautiful, gorgeous, and have great personalities, but ... The shrimp are so zippy and responsive and hilarious. Maybe my Snails have missed the boat, 'cause they don't meet me at the top of the tank for food, so therefore they're getting left out in the cold. Plus they all managed to be male, and my shrimp are prolifically breeding and having adorable babies.
Luckily, you can't make me choose!

Probably shrimp because they're more active.

Why isn't this thread a poll?
polls people get lazy and just vote..... its less about who wants what and more about why.

Shrimp, i've got 3 20g, 1 32g and a 15g tanks empty at the moment that i want to turn into shrimp breeding tanks in the summer.
I already have a 10g RCS tank and would like some blue tigger's, crystal reds, i haven't decided what other ones i want yet.

I have a snail only tank with brigs, and it right now is my favorite! It started out as a hospital tank. My darlin hubby laughs at me when I pull up a chair and watch them. There is something calming to snails. Can't explain what it is.

SWEET! LOOKING,
But I would keep shrimp, I spend hours everyday it seems tiding up the tank and checking levels, pruning plants, strategically placing food,
Though so many people prefer snails, maybe I should see what all the fuss is about, all I have are pond snails, and gold/spotted ramshorns

Shrimp, but you could keep both in the same tank.
Shrimps-15
Snails-9
I think the question should have been "If you have already kept both the shrimps and snails, which would you pick better?" That would be much fairer as some who have answered kept only one over the other instead of both to see what exactly is fascinating with either of the two.

if you couldnt keep the two together would you rather have just a shrimp only tank or just a snail only tank and why? what snail or shrimp would you keep?
If I couldn't keep multiple tanks and had to choose a single sp. and my choices were snails or shrimp. I would choose Crystal Reds because they are the hardest to keep and breed and that would feed my compulsive/obsessive behavior, therefore providing more gratification when successful.:thm:

I only have had cherry shrimp as far as an invert only tank, so it wouldn't be fair to say I would rather keep shrimmp because I haven't kept snails yet. But FTM has a point, if I had the cash, I would definetely go for the Crystal Red Shrimp.

I never could get into shrimp. I tried some ghost shrimp but they all died. I have since set up a snail tank and I love it :)

I'm such a newbie in the hobby. I started my tank with red cherry shrimp and nerite snails (from Msjinkz) together so I currently have both.
The snails are great but the shrimp are so much more active.
I would like to keep some larger types of snails in the future.
With the limited experience that I have currently, I think I would pick shrimp. My kids really enjoy watching the shrimp and finding the berried females and the tiny babies.
I had a 10g local Atlantic Caught snail tank previously. Have local hermits also which took care of eating them if caught.
i would keep shrimp, snails just arnt safe with me when i notice them they get thrown into my puffer tanks, and anyone thinking there going to make the night in one of those needs to look up there puffers. my shrimp tank ( which is up and coming ) has cherrys, crystal, bamboo, singapore woods, vampire, rodalph, black forest, and amano. if i could just get my scapeing looking right this would be probably my favorite thing i own.

I like both and if I couldn't keep them together I would keep them separate but if for whatever reason I couldn't do that either I would keep a snail tank.
