Do you have a tank yet? Equipment will kind of depend on the size tank you have. Post a tank size you had in mind and it will be easier to help you.

Wow, that's a very big question. Any idea what size tank, what is going into it? Like any aquarium activity, there are many ways to skin this particular dead cat.

we're guessing the tank size is around 50 gallons. My godfather is going to let me "borrow" a tank he had custom made to go in his wall but he says its around 50 gallons or so.

If its too big of a question, can someone at least point me in the direction of how to look up the different components on the internet. I appreciate the help again :)

If you're in a big hurry, try WetWebMedia (http://www.wetwebmedia.com). There are some very useful articles there on getting started.
I think people here are willing to help, if you narrow it down a little. Are you thinking fish-only, fish and live rock, or reef with corals?

i'm going to read that link. I know it was a huge question to ask. Hopefully I'll come back and ask more specific questions. I appreciate the little pointin to the general directions.

Also, this will mostly be a Fish tank but i want to entertain the idea of possibly supporting some anomes and other like creatures.

EDIT: chec.ked out that link and looks like im going to be busy reading up on that stuff then asking more questions :D
