I want to completely change out and clean the 20 that Max was in. Mainly because it was my first tank and has an undergravel filter that I don't like. Is there any way that I can trap the assassins? I don't want to lose any of them.

The old cucumber trick - except you only want the top layer of snails?

I bought "Carnivore" pelleted food for my Assassins. I don't think they ate it, but when it was in the clay saucer that I use to place food for the pond snails they seemed to be drawn to it.

Assassins are carnivores. I don't think the veggie trick would work. Msjinkzd has said hers will eat catfish pellets. Perhaps that would attract them?

Bloodworms! They love them, put some in a container and try that. Otherwise, just take out the substrate scoop by scoop and sift through it. What kind of substrate is it?
Mine do love catfish pellets as well.
