Does salt hurt snails?

i was going to buy some snails today and the guy from my lfc told me that my snails would die soon if i put them into my 29g...by the way i only have like 1 table spoon of aquarium salt in there.

They do not tolerate salt long term, but can endure it for a treatment. Why do you have salt in your tank? What kind of snails?

I have had MTS, Bladders, Pouch, and Rams all survive in a low brackish tank but their breeding dropped to nil.

Now Nerites will do just fine since breeding them is out of the question anyway.

I'm with Jinks why the salt?

well ever since I was hit with ich hard about a year ago ive always had a small amount of salt in the tank since i heard it prevents ich

but i think im going to stop now, since ive been reading that it isnt really all that much beneficial

That is incorrect. Salt does not prevent ich in the long run. It does destroy them but once the protozoans become adapted to the conditions involving salt, then they become harder to destroy with salt and soon enough, you'll have to risk the harsher chemicals to eliminate the ich altogether. Stop using salt.
