How Long?

So My new canister filter is up and running. I seeded it with a bunch of really nasty filter media from my HOB. How long until I can remove the HOB and just run the canister?

I would actually use both, what canister did you end up getting ?

Run it for a week minimum and call it good.

I really want to go just to the canister filter since it's quieter than the HOB plus I'm having a bit of interference with the spray bar. I ended up getting the cascade and it works nice, very powerful. My fish LOVE the new current :)

Since the new filter is more powerful the bacteria in it will grow very fast. You might even be able to get away with only waiting 3-4 days.

Personally if the noise bothered me that much I'd yank the old one right now and just do water changes if the NH3 and NO2 get out of spec.
