Hi guys, I'm new here and I have a question about my betta friend, Montezuma. He's in a 5.5 heated, filtered, cycled, and planted tank and I'm worried he has a mild case of fin rot, but I don't know what it looks like so it could be something else as well. The top part of the spines on his dorsal fin are sort of wrinkled and limp looking but they haven't fallen off nor are they discolored. The spines on his bottom fin have pretty much turned into wrinkled stubs, so I'm pretty worried. I keep a bit of aquarium salt in the water and I've been doing water changes once every three days since I noticed the fin problem.

Is there something else I should do? Does this sound familiar?

Thanks!

Do you have any pics of it? Pictures would help tremendously.

I would at least do more water changes..it always helps and can't hurt. Also post a full set of readings on your tank from a good liquid test kit.

How long have you had this set up?

If it is fin rot, clean water is the cure, do daily water changes until looking better.

The tank has been set up for over four months now, I'll be getting some pictures soon hopefully, as well as a water kit. I'll do water changes everyday and hopefully this fin problem will go away.

Thanks guys!

I would also suggest Bettafix.
