i got some bamboo, but after 3-4 days it seems to be getting a little yellow. i was wondering what light levels, temperatures, etc are required to keep bamboo healthy

Bamboo plants are not truly aquatic plants. Best left in gardens or paludaria.

They did answer your question. It's not their fault you don't like the answer....

How are we not answering your question, AC? Please explain what are you really looking for. This plant is not a true aquatic. You do not expect a marginal plant to thrive underwater for a long time.

its not even true bamboo.... get a cup and put it in a cup with some water.

take it out of the tank, keep the stem about half submerged in a vase or jar. If you leave it submerged any longer, it will start to rot.

Yeah, definitely don't do your research, just buy the information someone selling you something gives you.... Good luck with that. They have some pacu that go great with oscars there too. Just ask them....

careful pacu like fingers, nets, .... shirt corners that brush the water.... just don't expect to stick something in the tank and it not get shewed one if it seems appealing to them. and im sure you can get a goldfish bowl full of pea puffers to go next to there tank. ( they breed and make good feeders ( ive heard some dumb things at a petco, fresh water morays 8 inch bearded dragons. i wonder if they ever wonder why this kid hit his head and left.... better yet why do i go back?)

It is pretty common for bamboo to be sold as an aquatic plant. I have lucky bamboo that i bought from a flower shop, they sit in the window in tall bamboo vases with water. But they really dont like to be fully under water. They do look nice as a house plant though.

You should no keep it the tank. However if you are going to keep the bamboo and it starts to turn yellow, you have to pull it out and rinse it under warm water for 5 mins. Then put it back in.

Regarding Petco: half the aquarium plants they sell seem to be non aquatic. If you see a plant you like, look it up and make sure it is suitable before buying it form Petco.
