I have a tank that I believe was manufactured in 2002. It is made out of what I call green glass. I use a Mag Float to clean the insides of the glass. When I bought the tank used it had a couple of scratches on the inside front glass. Over the past year and a half, I've added more scratches on the inside due to my cleaning. The scratches seem primarily on the left hand front side of the tank. I try like heck to keep the mag float clean and don't run it down into the gravel. Within the next year or two I need to redo the floor in the room the tank is in so I'm thinking of buying a newer clear glass tank to replace this green glass one. Are the newer clear glass tanks more resistant to scratching?
Thanks.

I think pretty much all tanks are susceptible to being scratched. I do reccomend not using a mag float to clean algae, instead finding out the cause of it and trying to correct it if possible, and if not using a scrubby to clean it, and if that wont remove it, using a razor blade..

i had an issue like this as well with my tank, somtimes debris gets stuck on the mag float or scrub brush and scatch the glas. i have cleaned my tank with blue shop towels before by hand and it works better then a scrubber of any kind.

Thanks folks. Because of the size of the tank and having a canopy using the mag just makes it easier but you raise some good points.
