The the past month my mystery snails have been mating like crazy. I haven't been able to find any egg clutches. I really wanted to see one. I just assumed that my water conditions were preventing her from laying eggs. I'm in my last stage of cycling. I was surprised last night to discover 2 baby snails. I searched again for a clutch and still can't find one. I thought that when they hatched there was usually about 50 at at time. I'm wondering if my mollies ate them? I can only find one of them tonight. It is possible that they are hiding but my husband and I have searched and searched the tank.
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what happened?

They might not be mystery snail babies. Have you gotten a new plant, etc., lately?

Do you have your waterline lowered? If so, there is no way you will miss seeing a clutch if they lay one. They look like tightly packed pink grapes. They will lay on the glass above the waterline and sometimes if they have to they will lay on the bottom of the tank cover. I had one clutch show up under the lip of my HOB filter!!! And you can have 100's of babies at once.

I have never seen livebearers eat snails nor have a record that they do but they can nip eyes and antennaes which can stress or even kill the snail if it is constantly harassed. Baby mystery snails are hard to find in a planted setup or a setup with coarse substrate. Pics please?

The last time I got new plants was over a month ago. I moved the one snail that I could find into my 3 gal. I still can not find a clutch or more snails. I do keep my waterline lowered. I have a male betta in a community tank with mollies, platies, tetras, 2 snails, and a pleco. I have brown gravel so I'm wondering if they are just hiding in the gravel. I have a lot of algae. I leave the algae in there for the snails and pleco :)

I haven't gotten new plants in over 6 months but I just noticed some ramhorns a few weeks ago when I moved plants over to my 10 gallon ;)
