I got a hold of some driftwood on ebay. The driftwood is skinny and kind of branchy So my question is can I glue pieces together and if I can what kind of glue will be safe to use. Also what kind of low light, maintenance plants would be appropriate to attach to driftwood?
Thanks.

Aquarium safe silicon might work. Crazy glue is safe for the fish, I do not know how well it will hold the wood together though.

I've seen people zip tie pieces of driftwood together before or you cold screw them together with stainless steel wood screws.

I wonder if the marine adhesives meant for coral/live rock applications might work.
Java fern and anubias are great for attaching to driftwood.

Gorilla Glue brand of cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) works very well and hardens quickly when exposed to water. You can also use hot melt glue sticks. Once cooled it is inert (used for crafts). I prefer the Gorilla Glue and have used it on aquarium decor with no ill effect to the fish or inverts.

Crazy glue (cyanoacrylate) is a chemical first found in barnacles. It is fine to use in the water. Don't use accelerator, just let it cure naturally.

crazy glue doesn't work well with a porous surface.

The thicker varieties work pretty well but they dry very slowly. It takes about 2 minutes to dry. I have used them on woods a lot. Different brands have different names. "Gel" is a common descriptor for the thicker ones. I usually buy these:
