I've heard this before, not sure if it is truth or urban fishy legend.

However...

I have noticed a correlation between the amount of Malaysian Trumpet Snails (MTS), vs pond snails (and to some extent ramshorns) in my tanks. I do use the "pick-n-squish" method on readily accessible pond snails, but I wouldn't say I was aggressive about it.

In my 40G Breeder, I have a plethora of MTS, a small population of ramshorns (which may be decreasing), and no pond snails seen anymore :)
Same with my 20H Endler tank and a 10G.

20G long, only 6 months old, reasonable population of MTS, a few ramshorns, no pondies no more. I did take care NOT to intoduce any, but they followed the plants in anyway.

I have a bare bottom 20H with NO MTS, it has a load of ramshorns and is TEEMING with pondies...despite my squish raids. I have another 20H with few MTS; it has a bunch of ramshorns and pond snails...

So, do MTS really eat snail eggs? or maybe the fish are eating the eggs?

????

didnt work that way in my tank, many mts, many ps, + loaches = fewer of both lol

I've never witnessed any of MTS eating eggs, but they'll outcompete them for food and keep their numbers down.

Hah! That's what happened to me before. Pond snails boomed, MTS boomed, pond snails declined and since then MTS remained the dominant creatures until I decided to keep some loaches starting with yoyos.
