I soaked some manzanita branches and got them to sink, now I need them out of the buckets I was soaking them in. If I take them out of the buckets and they dry out, will they start to float again or will it stay water logged and always sink?

how long did you leave them out? in a day or two dry they should sink.

I got the wood about 5 days ago.
I been soaking it in a bucket of boiling water once a day, now most all of it sinks. I'm getting my new plant shipment in the mail hopefully later this week.
I want to take out the wood from the soaking buckets since I can't use all 20 pieces in my tank anyway and I need to do water changes with the same buckets.
So I was wondering how long it can stay out of water and still sink?
If later down the road I decide I want to use a different piece of would, would I have to do the soaking all over again to get it to sink?

Mine was fine for about 3 days, a little buoyant at first but still sat on the surface. Helps to keep them somewhere cool out of direct light etc tho. Depending on how big you could put them in an ice cooler if you have one.

Yeap, Bajanfish probably has the best suggestion. For them to unwaterlog they are just drying out. You may even be able to throw them into a garbage back with a bit of water in it. That should keep any evaporation from them trapped. Just don't make it a black bag and put it in the sun :P. Though if you take them out for a day or two it shouldn't do much harm.

OK thanks.
I was hoping the wood would always sink after once being water logged.. :silly:
