This a 30ish tank 110 aquaclear with the pvc intakes. I did this to try to create the current roll that would most likely happen in a rapid water situation.

Looks pretty good...although I would have probably put a strainer on the end of the pipe and put a round sponge over it.
 
I'm not sure I get it, 2 intakes far apart instead of just 1 straight down? And what's the pvc elbow at the top right? Water currents confuse me...
 
Sploke, the plan is to put the power head filters on them, just have not gotten the chance to pick them up as of yet.
H3D, the flow into a regular HOB is one sided. With this set up the out flow hits the front glass splits as it is split it is drawn into the far corners of the tank. Instead of haveing to cross the flow to get back into the intake.
Fish, the extra elbow is for suport of the filter. The filter is made for bigger tanks so the top frame of the tank is not as big.

I understand your idea, but in such a small area I don't think it will make much of a difference in current.
