My female yellow lab just release 7 fry!!!! Unfortunately 1 did not look very healthy and died. Nonetheless, the other 6 are doing great, very yellow and spunky (not to mention tiny!).
Anyway, I had put her in a quarintine tank to prevent her from getting beat up by the male who was (and is) on a mating frenzy. Right now, I have another female yellow lab in my quarantine tank because she is holding also (sheesh, so many babies, not enough tanks :D ). Along with my other fry.
I was wondering if I should keep her in my quarintine tank which is a 10G. The females dont get along well in that small of a tank (since there is not much territory to stake out) but the male yellow lab stresses my previously pregnant female by trying to mate with her all the time (at least it seems that way). THe main tank is a moderately planted 30G (Ammonia - 0, Nitrate - 0, Nitrite - ~5-10PPM, PH - ~7.5-7.8, KH -11-12, GH - 11-12, CO2 ~12PPM'ish) with 3 Zebras, 5 SAE and 1 Pleco. THey all get along fine with lots of territory (caves, tubes, undergravel caves, in plants etc), the Zebra's keep to them selves, the SAE try to eat the Cichlid food (at least they try), and the Labs, well, mate all the time it seems like.
I just want my female lab to live for another day. She looks slightly beat up, but still eats well, yet not as aggressive as she used to.
Any ideas - hopefully I covered all the basics
