Anubia Problem

Just broke down 20-g tank and transferred plants, fish to 38. My anubia broke down the middle of the rhizome, and so I planted both pieces in two different spots. One piece doing great, the other has leaves that are quickly disintegrating. I made sure rhizome NOT buried--both pieces resting on top of a rock.

Any idea what's causing the leaf problem? Think this piece will survive?

Water is testing fine; clear as a bell. About 96 watts of light (too much for an anubia??)

Thanks!

Cut off the dying leaves. As long as the rhizome is in good health it should come back.

It's hard to kill an Anubias (note there is no form "Anubia"; last syllable rhymes with "lass"). As the others have said, trim off the dying growth and it should sprout new shoots as long as it's not buried in the substrate.

If it's not a perfect split it's possible the rhizome of the dying plant can't suppose the foliage growth. Trim off the dead sections, as they obviously can't be supported and let the rhizome catch up with itself.

Hopefully it's easier to mangle Anubias taxonomy than to be the first person to actually kill this plant!

Thanks for the advice, will be in trim-mode post-haste.
