Well for now, almost everyone know my cadinals have ick a few days ago. my question is how do i knoe do i need maracyn or maracyn-two for secondary infection, how can i tell there might be a secondary infection happening in my tank, if the ick is gone ?
Thanks
and if some fish still have sign of ich, can i treat them with maracyn or maracyn-2, and which one should i use for my cardinal
thanks again:confused:

If ich is gone, there shouldn't be a secondary disease. I wouldn't treat with another medication "just to be sure". I would wait and watch out for warning signs of other illnesses but for the most part I would say your fish are looking good.
...and with ich, I wouldnt think you'd need such a strong medication like the ones your talking about. If the ich hasn't left yet, its because you might have caught it too late. Treating with more powerful meds which may not even be made for ich isn't going to help the problem.

Thanks for the information, i treat the ick for 3 days, 3 cardinal don't make it, even i spot the ick at a very early stage. and there are 3 of them still have a lot of ick on their body. so i do a 25% water change and raise the temp from 80 to 82 83f put some more salt in and add carbon in to clear the quick cure. 24 hrs later that 3 cardinal still have ick on it, the tail fin in gone (maybe attack by other fish, the tail fin (the clear part is gone, the red part show some yellow or brown). i isolate them into a fish breeder net, still alive, take the carbon out and treat it with quick cure again.
LOL.... this is the first time i have so many problem to deal with ick, usually i treat them with ick medince and it gone within a day or two, not over a week now.
please leave any comments that will help....thanks:(

Alot of the times that i have come across ick in my tanks i have treated them for 5-7 days. THis allows for any unhatched Ick cists to be distroyed. Isolating them is good, but your other tank is prob still infected. I would treat both tanks to get rid of the Ick.
