I'm looking to update my 37 gallon tank (12X30X27). I want to keep my Firemouth and maybe add a blue acara and some other cichlid. Is this possible?

I think your dimensions are wrong. If the tank is 12in long then no it wont work. If it is 30 long than you will have a lot better chance. I have never kept Blue Acaras and firemouths together but they have similar temperment so it should work out.

I have a 37g tank too. A blue acara should be ok with your firemouth. I have 2 Convicts and 1 Acara in mine. Very interesting and funny fish.

I have three blue acaras and one firemouth in a 55. They're fine together. Sometimes the firemouth shows some aggression but they never come to blows. Blue acaras are peaceful, curious, but skiddish fish and work well with fish that aren't smaller than them.

I have had as much as 5 Port Acaras with 2 Firemouths and 5 False Firemouths and 3 Turquoise Severums without any real problems.
