Does anybody know what this could be on my chocolate chip star? I recently had an ammonia spike due to a dead fish and I am wondering if that is what is causing this.

I would say that is definately a possibility.. starfish are very sensitive to ammonia. Odd looking CC star.. looks like a cross between a red tile starfish (Fromia Monilis) and a CC.
Yeah, I thought he was cool looking with the bright orange spikes when I got him. I got the params back to normal but just noticed this tonight. I hope it returns to normal but ultimately I just hope he lives. Seems to be acting normal.
