So I took the plunge and fragged my toadstool. It had more than quadrupled in size in the 8 months that I've had it and was casting too big of a shadow over everything else in the tank. I basically cut a ring off the edge of the cap and ended up with 9 1"x1" pieces. I placed each frag on a piece of rock and wrapped it in a bit of tulle to secure the frag to the rock. It's been 3 days and there's one frag that looks like it's trying to grow out over the netting. The other pieces look like they're having trouble extending their polyps due to getting trapped by the netting (though it appears that they're trying with some of the polyps making it through the holes).

My question is, how long do they need to be wrapped in tulle before they attach themselves to the rock they're sitting on? The tulle isn't that tight, just tight enough to hold them down but they definitely look like they'll be happier without the netting. Anyone have any estimates on how long before I can take the tulle off? Thanks!

The time for them to attach will vary... Some will likely be attached within 7 days, while others can take around 14 days. I would leave them be until it's been at least a week, then gently remove the material at least enough to see if each one has attached. For any that haven't attached firmly yet, give them another 7 days or so before checking again.
