View Full Version : Book purchase
My brother is getting pretty big into the saltwater scene and has had a tank for some time. I figured for christmas that I would get him a book on corals. I know he has just started to get into them so I figure a reference guide would be perfect (it was my mistaken purchase of a marine fish book instead of a freshwater fish book that got him hooked on the saltys in the first place).
Any suggestions? This is one I have come across on amazon.ca

Borneman's book would be my first choice. It's about as clear and complete as anything out there, IMO.

You nailed it man. The Borneman book is top notch. A BIT advanced on some topics, but overall a VERY good book. Consider also:
Natural Reef Aquariums: Simplified Approaches to Creating Living Saltwater Microcosms by John H. Tullock, Martin A. Moe

Very good book, not as specific on some things but a good overall reef book. Very similar to the Fenner book, infact it shares many pictures and some text with it. Fenner's book is more about the fish, this one is more about the reef and environment for the fish. A good combination would be all 3, so just go for it =)
Thanks for the replys. I know my brother wants to start getting more technical about his aquarium and the Borneman book sounds like a good place to go for that. He has just started putting in corals and is loving them. I'll have to see if I have the funds for more than one. That one already costs 40$ and I still have 5 more people to buy for.

You should be able to get it for about $30 online. Hunt around.
I want a puppy, by the way,
I am sure it is a bit cheaper elsewhere online but Amazon offers free shipping for items over 39$ (canadian of course) so in the end the difference won't be that much. Plus I am a bit lazy sometimes.
