i have a neighbor who made way to many snow flake shaped plaster of paris xmas ornaments she has offered me about 60 of them they are not painted just dried small about 1/2 inch in length maybe 1/4 inch thick. they are just plaster of paris and water mixed and poured in a mold and allowed to dry completely. would they be ok to use in my snail tanks to add calcium? i should be getting them in a day or two and I wanted to ask before I tried them. and how many would you use say per 10 gallons of water and how often would you add them? thanks for any advice

i do have a 10G tank with just some pesky pond snails i could try it out on to see if its ok to use? how many would you suggest using in a 10G tank and how often?
Test them on the pond snails I think. Use the Dap brand if you want to buy your own. I put only one and add another when the previous is almost gone.

i picked up the 60 small solid snow flake shaped plater of paris dics today and have began the 10G pond snail / ramshorn test its been a few hours since i added them and everyone seems fine so far i will give it a week and see how they are doing before i add any to my other aquariums. i would think any ill effects would show up with in a weeks time period.
