this little guy i got at petsmart and his shell was perfect and i spent a lot of time looking at them before buying and he was doing great for a while and after a few weeks i noticed that he had split his shell, and wasn't growing as fast as everyone else, then i seen this and it seems to have healed well will this outgrow its self and get smooth again or is permanently deformed?

It will continue to close, but will not get smooth again, it will have an imprefection.

would this one be a genetic flaw or just a boo boo,..
i really don't want to use it for breeding , to risky, have you gotton a stray split with some of yours? or is it just all bad gene's ...
i know my horse gets a split now and then in her hoof and its just conditions that lead to it, she has one now and hasn't had one for 10 years, so its hit and miss,
i wonder if its the same with the shells?

I would think its most likely genetics. I get one occasionally that develops a weird fissure, the ones of the front leading edge are more common. Sad to say, but I typically will cull those specimens so they do not effect my breeding stock ormove them to a tank without other snails/new home when possible.
