What do I need to know to keep shrimp? I am not looking to breed just have some Amano shrimp in a planted tank.

GH=3
KH=5
pH=7.4 with no CO2
Ammonia=0
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=5
Phosphate=.5

should probably be ok with that. If you have any algae the amanos go a wicked colour. Mine get an awsome blue colour to them when they have lots lol.

amanos are very hardy and versatile, as long as the parameters stay stable :)

Note that a big change in water parameters can cause an amano to literally walk out of the tank and dry up somewhere. Acclimate slowly to reduce the chances of this happening to you.

If you want to be even more cautious, cover the tank for the first 2 weeks (if it's an open tank) before you release the cover. If that tank already has a cover, then you have nothing to worry about.
