i have had my CFL for several days and yesterday wasthe first day that i ran it for 10 hours (maybe more).

my question: do CFL's appear brighter at first and then settle into how bright they should be? Because when i first turned on my light it was bright as all heck. now it appears to be just bright.

thanks!

Yes, CF lamps will lose a small amount of intensity over the first few days and weeks. This trend continues over the life of the bulb, but after the initial loss in the first hours of use, it slows down dramatically so you don't notice it, unless you put a 6 month old bulb right next to a new one.

okay that is what i thought. thank you

I remember when my theater was getting rebuilt they had to burn in the new flourescent lights and the first few days that we weren't able to turn off the lights we all acted with sun glasses on
