WOW!!! I just got and tried out my refractometer. I am impressed at how easy it is to use.

Yeah, i think its an essential bit of kit in any marine aquarists testing kit. Far more accurate than a hydrometer...Glad you've now got one...

Yes, they are very easy to use. Not only more accurate, but much faster to get a reading than with a swing arm hydrometer.

Now to find electronic monitors for the rest of the water chemistry. LOL

That is where things start to get really expensive. Most people think going from a $10 Hydrometer to a $40 Refractometer is a big leap.. next step is a $100 pH probe.. then the next leap is $250 for Calcium monitor. I am seriously contemplating picking up a ReefKeeper controller in the near future.. I have wanted a AquaControllerIII Pro for a while now, but the $600+ price tag has kept me from doing so.. the new ReefKeeper controllers are cheaper (although they are new and reviews state there are still bugs to work out, but it is still very good and well supported).

Yup, that price tag is a little steep. I did a little reading and find that these can tend to make a person lazy and not check the water parameters with the proper test kits. Something goes wrong and you have no idea why until it's too late. I guess the test kits will do for the time being. It's a hobby may as well be involved with it. :D
