This is a large predatory fish, I would not suggest getting a fish like this. Especially if you plan on putting it in your 55 gal community tank.

I had a much different experience with my black ghost. Very peaceful and @8", didn't bother even the little rasboras in my 125 gal. Unfortunately he died suddenly one night. Suspect the large pleco, he is no longer with me either. Don't have any experience with one any larger tho....

i agree- my experience with them has been pretty promising as far as agreability with other fish, but they are kind of fragile and a lot of times get beat up. what other fish would you keep them with?

I really like the Ghost Knife. It goes well with any community fish that will not fit in it's mouth. I keep mine with some parrots, silver dollars, and a few plecos.

Only bad experience I had was when I worked at a LFS. Started noticing that the albino cory cats in the tank were missing eyeballs. Finally figured out that it was the black ghost. Somebody recently posted here that the same thing happened to them. Never heard of them bothering anything else.

the black ghost knife is a predatory fish. it can get to 21-25 inches long. it WILL eat anything it can fit in its mouth.

unless you have a 100gallon+ tank I wouldnt get it.

You're talking about a huge mean, even mean looking, more emphasis on mean looking with the other ones but....theyre a huge predator w/ a big mouth (at the lps i saw a tank with black ghosts brown knifes and clown knifes devour at least half a dozen zebra danios and a few feeder comets.....
