I used to own Hagen Maxima air pump rated 30g and I didn't like it. It produced the boom that I could not get rid of, even when it is placed on top of a folded towel. It got relegated to the basement where there were only fry tanks.

Does anyone here have experiences in multiple vendors? New Tetra "Whister"? Rena? Penn Plax?

I am tilting towards Rena 300 but it is also more expensive than others...

I've heard both good an bad things about the luft pump. I've only seen their pump with 4 outputs. They might make other ones, not sure. I am shopping around for a new pump as well and created a thread the other day. Someone mentioned kensfish.com as the best place to aquire air equipment. From looking around them seem to have fantastic prices. I know this doesn't help you with which one, but if you haven't looked at kens, take a look.

I use a 60 and a 10, both running in deep tanks, no problems getting the air to the bottom, and very quiet........:)

There is a significant price differences between Tetra and Rena pumps of equivalent capacity. From what I hear on this thread, you guys seem to be ok with Tetra.

Unfortunately places like Kens and DrFoster doesn't help me since I live in Canada. Still Tetras are cheaper here than Renas. May be this time, I'll gamble on Tetras. On some other threads, people have been complaining that they had to replace the diaphragm on their pumps prematurely often.
