View Full Version : Tail Fungus Returning?

About 2 weeks ago, my betta had a tail fungus. I treated w/ maracyns 1 & 2 for 5 days (like it said on the package) and it went away. Now it appears to have come back! I started up the treatment again and I'll see how it goes... but any ideas on why this continues to return?

Fred always seems to have had "skin" issues... but this is worrying me.... The only problem w/ his fins previously was columnaris, but now that's gone (and has been for a little under a yr I think), but his tail is not looking too hot. I am religious with water changes, I didn't get to it this week because I was away Friday to late Saturday and on Sunday I was busy. I will try to fit one in this week, but I always check for uneaten food during the week and remove it with a turkey baster. He also seems to have lost his appetite lately... is this a connection with the fungus? Even in between outbreaks, he looses his appetite sometimes... and I try to give him peas once a week/once every 2 weeks. Any help is appreciated!

no I haven't had time, but here's what I can tell you:

Size (gallons): 2.5
Stock: 1 betta
Plants: lots of java fern
Lighting: 1 ?? watt incandescent bulb
Filtration/Heating: none
Waterchanges: Weekly, 50-75% or more

I will try to get params ASAP.

It's kind of going away but I still see it... srry I haven't had time to do params or water changes (life is sooo hectic lately with school and all)... should I be trying a stronger medication if this comes back again? He's eating a little more normally now.

Clean water should be enough.
