I have a 29 gallon tank and I was wondering how many Red Line Torpedo Barb's I could get? The only inhabitants in the tank now is a Bristlnose Pleco.

They become 6 inch missles. I would think a bigger tank would be better.

I agree. One of the LFSs here in town has them in a 55 gallon display tank, and they really utilize all that space. They seem to be very active fish, and as Rich mentioned, grow relatively large.

Very active fish, and prefer planted tanks as well.

wow, I just googled.....those are gorgeous.....are they difficult to find? I don't recall having seen them in any of the LFS around here. I have a 55 I am looking to stock soon.

They can be found, but aren't all that common. They also usually carry a price tag of $25-35 per fish when I have seen them. A proper school of them is a pricey venture. Most LFS worth their salt should be able to special order them, even if they aren't regularly stocked.

I agree with sploke, larger specimens can get up to $50 a piece in my area.
