Does anybody own any? From the fish section they seem to be both beautiful and fascinating. I am just wondering about their behavior, breeding, feeding habits, etc. I am planning a future tank and would like to know how available they are as well. Any good stories appreciated. Thanks.

Blue acaras are a hardy fish but they still prefer good water conditions, especially if you want them to breed.
They should be kept in a large tank with plenty of caves
and hiding places for them.
they are a beautiful fish (especially when breeding) and make
very good parents with both male and female looking after the fry.
They become very territorial and aggressive toward other fish
when looking after eggs or fry.
Blue acaras grow to about 8 inches and can be kept with
semi aggressive fish of the same size.
They are not fussy eaters and will relish most food types.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Well...haven't been on here for awhile...seems alot of things going by..
I also own Blue Acara's, 4 of them, 2 male and 2 female...if you guys remember back, there was an arguement as whether or not my alpha male was a GT. Hes not a GT and hes becoming less dominate and the second male is getting larger.
I'm trying to breed my pairs, but they are not breeding size yet..Both Females wanted to breed with the "Phony GT" and he couldn't decide so eggs where wasted.
Yeah they are fully interesting, and you should get them, not too agressive, even at all. My female is always in breeding colours...not sure why, always dark stripes and defined features. They aren't fussy eaters as said before, I'm thinking about buying another beef heart and preparing some for them. I have them in a tank with, bronze cats, river stream platy's and an algea eater. They all do fine, only causalty was the snail, which was near its ending time anyway.
Was going to pictures up, but it seems I'm too busy. If I do eventually do it, i'll be sure to post.
But I say, go for it, blue acara's are the BOMB!
