Large Tank "Accessory" Supports

Has anyone used, or heard of extra support around the top and bottom of new, large tanks? 125 gallon plus sizes... The supports are either stainless, or aluminum. This seems like a good idea, and a kind of extra 'insurance'..

I never heard of such a thing...are we talking added support because the engineers who designed the tank didn't take in to account the amount of support needed? Sounds like a way to get a few extra bucks out of me.
