Got a pair of Peacock Gudgeons from aquabid, and they arrived today is stellar health!

Here are a few pics. They've literally been in the tank for 5 minutes. They are tiny, but STUNNING!!

The Pearl Gourami already took a bit of a chomp out of the female's tail...but he hasn't since that one time, so I'm hoping it was just his way of saying "Hello, I'm here too."

I love them!! They are so fantastic. I have two PVC caves with substrate curing to the outside of them, so as soon as they're cured, I'll put them in for the Peacocks.

Anyays, enjoy!

First, the female:

Now the male:

And now, a blurry shot of the two hanging out:

And of course, the obligatory full-tank shot (many of you have probably already seen it):

Nice gudgeons! Are they considered brackish fish? I'd like a pair of my own someday, if they can live comfortably in freshwater. I really like the little platform you've created on the right side (my right) of your tank! Did you just cover a large rock with some gravel?

The Peacock Gudgeon is a freshwater fish.

Yep, the right side platform is a large rock with a flat top (took some searching...I actually found it at a mini golf course, lol) and is covered with some substrate.

Thanks for looking. :)

I loved my peacock. He one day just stopped eating though. I think he got bullied by my pleco.

Just some regular ol' Java Moss with some wire netting strapped around the rock.

I'm thinking of switching out the Java Moss for some Flame Moss, though. I actually started this crop of Java Moss from one little strand that hitch-hiked on a plant package that I ordered from Mgamer.

One year later, it's a whole mat!

Huh...the male seems to be flashing on the plant leaves!! That...can't be good, right?

He's not flashing against anything else in the tank (substrate or rocks). Just on the plant leaves. Should I be concerned?

Woot! Thanks, guys!

The male has been hiding a LOT. Hopefully once I put in the PVC caves I made for them I'll at least know WHERE he is hiding. :silly:
