Is Pimafix by API ok to use with a female betta who we think has Cotton? I was told that Bettafix is more for bacterial infections and not fungal ones... I dont want to add the Pimafix into her tank if its going to hurt her...

Quick Replys would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey missmelis,

I wouldn't know as I've never used PimaFix. Where is the cotton on the fish? Is it around his face/mouth and on the "saddle" of his back around his dorsal fin. Or is it actually on his fin surfaces themselves? I ask because there are several diseases that appear as a "cottony" substance.

Pimafix is good for some fungal growths on the body, but you will want to use as little as possible, depending on your betta's tank size. I would also advise against moving the betta if it's in a community tank. I've noticed that fungus seems to come about from sources of stress, and moving the betta into a different tank may stress it out more. Luckily, pimafix is pretty safe to use in commnity tanks, so there should be no negative affects on any other fish in the tank (if there are any).

Edit: I just looked at the link to your other thread, so nevermind about the community tank stuff. :) I think water changes will help your betta get well, but I think you will need to use a small amount of medication in this case.
