i know this is like the 30000 post about this stuff but in the last couple weeks i have noticed this stuff to pop up on my rock and around my corals. i have a toadstoal leather that has not come out in a few days and some green polyps that at one end stay down cause i think it is touching the corals. i went to the lfs today the only one for miles and miles that deals anything with saltwater and they are all out of the common things you tell ppl to use to take care of their aptasia problems, they have no joes juice and no peppermint shrimp till their next shipment in about a week. is there anything that i can do to get rid of the ones close to the corals till i can get something next week to get rid of them? i dont want to lose the corals to something like that!:swear:
i never heard or read this but the guy at the fish shop told me i could blast them with calcium? never heard that but let me know

I use regular old lemon juice in a syringe and give it a good squirt. Gone!

yea i used calcium and it worked ok. I just used a syringe to inject them and used my dose that i would use on that day so as to not overdose. works ok, sometimes need a couple of shots. I used a combination of the peppermint and the calcium injections. the peppermints will take out most of the little ones but they wont touch the big ones. With the peppermints you will need to poke the aptasia so that they release smell or something so they attract the shrimps. Also you can get a copperband butterfly fish if your tank is big enough. good luck, this wont be solved in one day its going to take a while and every now and then u will probably get one or two.

wait for the peppermint shrimp, they do a great job. I also at one point used a copper banded butterfly and he made short work of them, but they will always return. The shrimp do a good job of taking care of the problem for the longterm.

If you use peppermint shrimp, make sure they have food once the aptasia is gone... I know that some folks have seen them nibble (not really eat) softies when hungry. The coral can die from stress even if its not "eaten"
