I went to check on my saltwater fish tank this morning. Well, I couldn't find my anemone, so I looked EVERYWHERE. I found it sucked up in the sucking part of the filter. It just makes me so mad!!

well that sucks.. was it just introduced to the tank??

Yea, every once in a while they want to go on a little walk-about. I have a RBTA that was happy in this one spot for about six months. Never moved. One day it went of a walk-about and stung two of my corals, causing death on parts of those corals. It now seems to be happy stuck between the back glass and some rock…until it decides to go for another walk.
You didn’t mention, were you able to save your anemone? They are pretty resilient. A friend had one sucked through a powerhead into a hundred pieces. He thought all was lost. A couple weeks later he has a bunch of baby anemones popping up around the tank.

No, it had been in the tank for about maybe 2 months.

No, by the time I got it out it was already crushed and it's foot was cut in half. It was very nasty. Yeah mine was into alot of pieces too. Really? I hope I get a bunch of baby anemones.

I moved this over to the anem section as that is what it is about.
While having babies pop up randomly isn't too likely, it would have been possible that at least some of the original anem would have surprisingly made it. I've fragged my RBTA numerous times, sometimes even just by tearing, with pretty good success.

if it isn't decomposing, there is usually at least SOME hope. I would keep it in there until it starts to break appart when you touch it, and then get it out asap. Until that time, just keep a close eye on it.

it's out in the woods you said? haha. No. it is gone. I mean if one dies in your tank. When they are truely all dead, they will turn into mush pretty quickly.

oh, haha. Well maybe next time if one of the future anemones die I'll try to remember what to do. :)
