I am restarting my 100 gal. tank after moving. i bought a new power filter and i am starting this tank from scratch. when cycling the tank with the new filter, should i leave the carbon out of the filter while it goes through the cycling process ?

dosent matter, you can save it. cause you dont really need it. might help to clear some stuff up if it gets all cloudy though.

I cycled my tanks with no carbon. Just filter floss and sponges. I would save the carbon and use it if you ever need to medicate. You just want a media in the filter with lots of surface area to build up bacteria. Ceramic balls are also supposed to be a good idea.
