Here are some poor shots of my assassin snail eating MTS. I didn't know the gravel I scooped for a new tank had some MTS that survived the wrath of my tiger loaches. They ended in the hands of the five assassin snails instead.:lipssealedsmilie:

Thanks. lol...I still have one pouch snail trying to evade the assassin snails. It spends most of its time clinging near the water surface to avoid the assassin snails.:headshake2:

Nice pics :). How do the assasins eat other snails? Do they crunch on its shell or eat it whole?

They eat by sucking the body with their siphon. MTS have very hard shells, hard even for most puffers.

I was waiting for the LFBN to flash her fins and there it was. Normally she bounces around the tank like she is wearing flouncy dress making it hard for me to get good pics.:D

Shoot, you should see the split fins on my juvie longfin. He/she (not quite sexable yet) shares a 30 long with a breeding pair of chanchito's, 4-5 other BN's, and a handful of juvie L333's. I'm not sure whether it's the cichlids or the other BN's tearing up the long fins, but none of the other pleco's have a split fin anywhere.

I take that back. The pouch snail was finally eaten yesterday. I spoke too soon. It got caught 4 hours after I took the photo but it survived the assassin snails for two days.

Todd, where's the pic of your LFBN?:D

It's a bristlenose pleco (Ancistrus sp. 3 I think). LFBN-long finned bristlenose

This one is 3.5 inches at the moment. They don't grow beyond 4 inches. Males tend to be larger though.

If you've seen the pics in my chanchito thread you'll understand why I can't get a decent pic of the LFBN. Aside from the LFBN's total length being less than my thumb, between the breeding pair of cichlids w/fry all the pleco's maintain a low profile. They aren't particularly aggressive toward the pleco's, and the BN's do manage to clean just about every surface in the tank as far as I can see. WHen I get the basement situated and the 2 75's set up I'll be moving just about all my fish around into bigger tanks. Then I'll be able to get some semi-decent pics.
