Hello all, I just purchased another 20 gallon (long) tank (TopFin glass). In the process of trying to level it on the stand last night, I discovered that the black plastic trim/bracing around the top of the tank is higher than it should be on one of the corners. So for instance the space between the top trim and bottom trim is 26 cm at 3 of the corners, but on one of them it is 26.5 cm. Did that make any sense? There is a bunch of sealant goo in the corner so I can't get a really good look at how the glass and trim come together. Also, I should mention that the trim does not feel loose at all. Is this something where I should definitely return the tank or is it not a huge deal? I'm all for returning a tank if there is a dumb little flaw that would increase the chances of having 20 gallons of water on my bedroom carpet.. :silly:

The tank will be fine as it is but it might prevent the top sitting on it properly. Returning the tank really depends on how happy you are with the tank as it is.

As far as looks, it looks fine and it's a small enough of a difference that the top doesn't sit noticeably weird or anything. I just wasn't sure if it was a structural issue. Part of me thought it shouldn't make a difference and part of me pictured an exploding aquarium hahah (I'm paranoid)

I've experienced the SAME THING will All Glass - I have a 75 that looks like its not level because the uneven trim makes the waterline look off - yet if I place an actual level on the waterline, its fine.

Drove me nuts for a while, I've learned to live with it.

You put a level on your actual waterline?

I haven't filled the tank yet, so no..

er.. that was a comment to djmarshak wasn't it?

My question was for djmarshak's post right above mine.

Just sounded very strange to me. Why in the world would you put a level on the waterline, itself? lol
I had to ask to be sure that's what he/she meant.

yeah, I'm a little slow today :duh:
