I've been using this forum as a reference for fish info for a while, and decided to finally join! I'm Emily, in Oregon. My family consists of my husband, 4 year old daughter, dogs, cats, rats, rabbits, birds, and of course, fish.

My personal aquatic interests are goldfish (Shubunkin type), koi (Don't own them yet, but plan to in the future), Bettas. Hubby is a Cichlid fan, including our big tiger oscar 'Tiwa'.

I look forward to learning more about fish, and becoming more active in the community.

Weather must be wonderful there! Send some of the warmth here ;) I can't complain much because we haven't had much rain, but it's still chilly, so I hate walking the dogs in the foggy mornings! It feels like fall here lately, with the crisp chill, and orangey sunsets.

We rarely hit 100 around here... thank goodness! I could NEVER survive in southern, or eastern Oregon! I'm from Michigan, and loooove the mild weather here in the mid-Willamette valley :) Much nicer than the weather extremes in other places!

I pretty much wear a tanktop, hooded sweatshirt, and sandals with socks all year long ;) "Oregon: Wearing hoodies all year long"! LOL This winter, even during the snow I never pulled out a jacket, just the hiking boots! (Maybe I'm weird though!)

80's in the winter AND summer? Darn, how can you stand it ;0P

I know, I know, seasons are nice (I complain about the lack of a 'real' autumn here with all the evergreens), but mornings this time of year, are no fun to drag myself out of bed in the cold to walk dogs in. No fun at all! LOL Warmer mornings are much more pleasant!

I only currently have 3 goldfish, a feeder comet (Was going to be an oscar treat, but looked interesting while in QT so we kept him to see how he matured), and 2 Shubunkins.

I bought this calico last summer, and the comet in the fall (We kept it because it had a really neat brown stripe... we suck at live feeding ;)

I just bought this one, and he's still in quarantine. He has a really interesting blue eye!

Until last summer/fall I also had a large black moor that a family member talked me into letting them have for their tank (It was a fish I'd taken in from a neighbor who was moving, but I'm not a huge fan of the big-eyed fish), and I had a beautiful blue Oranda, who was the ONLY fish we lost in a tank crash :( I'm still really upset over that loss, and hope to own another like him someday.

I've been really hoping to find a couple fancy Shubunkins, but local fish stores tend to only carry the fancy 'round' goldfish, or plain looking Shubunkins. I've looked online for breeders selling them, but haven't had any pop out at me (I've never ordered a fish online). Hopefully I can find one someday :) We keep the spare tank with mollies in it 'just in case' (for impulse buys like the blue-eyed one), and I check every fish store we visit for fancy Shubunkins.
