hello everyone!

I have a dojo, hopefully will have more when ever the store gets more, and I have been doing some research and I see that they eat snails. I was wondering when they start doing this? Mine doesn't seem to pay any attention to the trumpets in my tank. He is only about 4-5 inches right now, I was just wondering if maybe their appetites grow once they get older, or is he leaving them alone because I keep him pretty well fed:)

Thanks!

I find the claim that dojos eat healthy snails being bunk. Unless the snails died, then there is no way a dojo can attempt to eat the snail especially as the mouth structure is not designed to attack the snails. If you look at the mouth anatomy of the dojo, compare it to those of the botiine genus. It's not versatile enough to grab the soft parts but I have never seen the serpentine loaches go for any snails at all, let alone the new hatchlings. I kept a dojo with my canas of all ages and even MTS. None were ever lost to the dojo and the kuhlis.

My big ol' dojo/weather really likes the little snails I dump in from the Amazon tank. Goes after them with no hesitation. Maybe it's just him. He likes the smaller shrimp, too. Or did... he seems to have stopped eating the ghosts. Maybe he got sick of them! :lol2:

I guess it just depends on the loach. I have 5 MTS in there with him now and he doesn't seem to know they exist lol...
