Just got home from the hospital!

Woke up this morning with an incredible abdominal pain. No, it wasn't gas.
7 hours later I am home without my appendix. I'll be laid up for a week, so I'll be chit chatting quite a bit on here. Looking forward to the break! I feel much better though.

In/out in 7 hours? That sux - you won't have a big ole scar to tell your kids "war stories" or near death experiences, lol. Now how are you gonna ham it up for them???

On a more serious note - glad that you went and had your "pain" diagnosed early and you are still here. Hope for a speedy recovery for ya!

Thanks guys! THings these days are easy. Laproscopic surgery gets you in and out. No scar! ;-) Feeling much better though. THank you for your thoughts!

I am glad you caught it early before they ruptured. I am amazed that you were in and out of the hospital for an unscheduled surgery in 7 hours.

I'm glad you found it early too,hope you feel better soon.I nearly lost my son to ruptured appendicts when he was 10 yrs old,it was pretty awful,but he came through it .I remember they took him to theatre ,said they would be about an hour ,6 hours later!!!! He came through it and that was 15 yrs ago. Enjoy your rest :)

Thanks guys! I did catch it early. They weren't even sure that it was my appendix until they took a CT scan. THe pain was not localized but by the time I went in to surgery, I knew it was my appendix. It hurt like HE!!

I had a similar experience...I was in the ER at 2AM, sent me home, but the next day they took mine out around 4PM. I was eating 'normal' food the next day and back at work in a week.

Around the same time...I had a coworker whose appendix burst...he was out for a couple months and in a lot of pain.

So...feel lucky...such as it is.

...and wear comfy pants for awhile :)

I feel pretty lucky too. I'mglad they took it out right away before things got bad. I am off for a week, but I did cheat and cut my grass today. I just had to get out of the house. I'm already off all my medication, so I'm going to try and do normal stuff.

Hey, come on, I go away for a few days on a mini-vacation and you come up with a bum appendix? Sheesh!!! So glad you caught it in time and that you are on the mend! Take it easy!

my little sister had complained of stomach discomfort for almost a year, the doctors told her it was only constipation and that if she ate better and took laxatives she'd be fine. One night she wakes up screaming, goes to the ER and then goes home less her appendix. They even let her have some pics of it from the mini cam. Only half of it was actually infected, pretty interesting to see.
