I've been wondering, what can you put in one of USPS's flat rate boxes that's capable of breaking the 70 pound limit?

Solid lead blocks?

Lead weights. There are many things that can exceed the weight limit. Any chance you can be more specific?

Not really, I was just wondering. I'm no expert on heavy things.

The largest flat rate box is 12.25" x 12.25" x 6". That's a little over half a cubic foot (0.52lb/ft3). Therefore, to break the 70lb limit, the substance would have to have a density greater than 137.62lbs/ft3 or 2156 kg/m3. According to this chart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Density#Densities_of_various_materials), there are many things that would break the limit, including copper and lead. The good news for us is that water does NOT break the limit, so we never have to worry about fish shipments going over. :)

Yeah, black hole wins, but also destroys the planet. [Not really, but I'm trying to make a case for my entry.]
Nuetronium - the matter of a nuetron star. Densest actual material substance (not with an event horizon) known. 6x10^1017 kilograms per cubic meter. Our sun only has a mass of 1x10^30 kilograms...

(see Marvin the Martian)
but if you don't break the 70 lb limit, you can ship it from Mars!
OK, got intrigued, did the math.
PLUTONIUM in the 11 x 8.5 x 5.5" box would weigh ~ 367 lbs!!!!
